My review of the recently released LG Optimus 4G LTE Android smartphone running Android v2.3.5. It is the first phone in Canada with a 720p (1280x720) screen utilizing LG's IPS LCD technology. LG is the manufacturer for Apple's Retina display and they've expanded their a 3.5" 960x640 (326ppi) screen to this 4.5" 1280x720 screen while maintaining the eye-popping 326 pixels per inch density. The Optimus is also the first smartphone I've used with flawless 1080p MKV support (high profiles!). It can also stream media wirelessly using DLNA to compatible receivers (computers, Blu-ray players, etc.). However, it can only stream 1080p MP4s (the format of the camcorder) and 720p MKVs (1080p MKVs lagged). The microUSB port is also powered by an MHL chipset (www.sync-blog.com which allows it to output via an inexpensive adapter to do HDMI mirroring at 720p (including 1080p MKV playback down-converted).
